I’m Merve Nur Sökmen, a multi-directional industrial designer who believes in exploring every corner of the design world. My journey over the past eight years has taken me through a variety of paths—corporate environments, design agencies, freelance projects, and even founding my own creative platforms.
Early in my career, I designed products for some of Turkey’s leading names like Vestel and Koleksiyon Furniture, where I learned how to balance complex production processes with market demands. Seeking new challenges, I joined the award-winning Layer Design in the UK, where I contributed to high-profile projects and sharpened my ability to adapt design thinking to fast-paced, innovation-driven environments.
Along the way, my work has been recognized with several national and international design awards, including the prestigious iF Design Award. I’ve also shared my perspective through articles, featured on platforms like DesignWanted and mentioned by WGSN, reflecting my commitment to shaping conversations within the design industry.
At the same time, I’ve always believed in creating opportunities, not waiting for them. That’s why I co-founded DesignUplift and Co-Hub—two platforms built to empower designers, encourage collaboration, and foster community. Both initiatives continue to grow today, connecting designers around the world and proving that design is as much about people as it is about products.
As we talk about connecting with designers worldwide, it's important to mention that I am actively mentoring emerging designers through ADPList, helping them shape their own journeys in the industry.
Whether I’m working within established systems, fast-moving agencies, or building something from scratch, I approach every project with the same mindset: flexibility, strategic thinking, and a commitment to delivering meaningful, user-centered design.
